This competition serves as a positive driver to improvement, further enhancing the company’s operation and services.
Recently, many bases of Hailiang organized blue-collar skills competitions and successfully concluded mid-year blue-collar skills review meetings for 2023.
Anhui Base: Introduction of Safety Training and Examinations
During the 2023 mid-year blue-collar skills review, the Anhui Base introduced safety training and examinations to instill a culture of safety into the company’s daily operations, truly embodying the principle of “putting safety and people above everything”. On August 30, the Anhui Base held the mid-year blue-collar skills review and rank assessment meeting of 2023. Based on the final results, the list of blue-collar workers was determined for each level proportionally.
A total of 219 blue-collar employees participated in this review. After undergoing a series of assessments, including knowledge and skills tests, as well as safety evaluations, 3 first-level blue-collar workers and 16 second-level were selected. Throughout the entire process, the Anhui Base adhered to the principles of fairness, justice, and transparency, firmly rejecting any form of cheating and upholding the values of integrity and ethics, thereby promoting the Hailiang’s craftsmanship spirit.
Shanghai Base: Blue-Collar Workers Are the Core Competitive Strength of the Company
In mid-May, the Shanghai Base initiated the blue-collar skills review for the first half of 2023.
The review team organized theoretical training, knowledge and skills tests (including additional tests), and conducted a reevaluation of the blue-collar workers based on their work performance in the first half of the year. A total of 10 first-level blue-collar workers, 45 second-level, 202 third-level, 135 fourth-level, and 33 fifth-level were selected.
On August 16, the Shanghai Base held the blue-collar skills review meeting. Fu Haidong, the General Manager of the Shanghai Base, emphasized that blue-collar workers are the core competitive strength for the company’s future development. The Shanghai Base consistently places great importance on blue-collar workforce development, showing care and support for these employees, and providing them with a robust platform and space for their personal and professional growth.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Fu Haidong awarded certificates for the first and second-level blue-collar workers and took a group photo.
Taishan Base: Practicing Leads to True Skill, Showcasing Expertise
In July and August, the Taishan Base organized blue-collar skills competition activities. Recently, the activities were successfully concluded.
Through the activities, the blue-collar workers within the company actively prepared and created a positive atmosphere for practicing and mastering new skills. Since the start of the competition, the participants have demonstrated their skills and expertise, igniting a tense and exciting atmosphere on the competition grounds. After two months of intense competition, a group of highly skilled and outstanding blue-collar workers were selected.

The skill competition is not only a platform for displaying skills but also an arena where teamwork is demonstrated. They encourage and support each other, competing to reach higher levels and demonstrate their excellence. Just as a verse goes, “carve and polish into a tool, dry hammer into gold”. The spirit of craftsmanship is not achieved through shortcuts but through dedication and perseverance.
Skill competitions serve as a “booster” for the development of blue-collar workers. Taking the opportunity of blue-collar skill competitions, the Guangdong Base used various methods, including combining training and competition, to comprehensively enhance the core competitiveness of blue-collar talents and continuously improves the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of them, fostering a culture of healthy competition, learning, improvement, mutual assistance, and excellence. This, in turn, strengthens the talent base for the high-quality development of the company.
The Taishan Base also hopes that blue-collar employees will approach every seemingly insignificant task with the positive attitude, using it as an opportunity to build their character and cultivate the spirit of craftsmanship.
Zhongshan Base: Blue-Collar Projects Infuse Development Vitality into the Company
On August 23, the Zhongshan Base successfully held the mid-year blue-collar skills review meeting and certificate presentation ceremony of 2023.
The 2023 mid-year blue-collar skills review lasted for 4 months with 168 participants. The process was characterized by transparency, from the qualification review of participants to the standardization of textbooks, and from theoretical and practical exams to the public announcement of final results. The review resulted in the certification of 7 first-level blue-collar workers, 17 second-level, 83 third-level, 47 fourth-level, and 11 fifth-level.
Li Wanshou, the Director of the Production Department at the Zhongshan Base, offered a full appreciation for the achievements made in the blue-collar skills level review over the past 3 years. Feng Jianhua, a representative of excellent first-level blue-collar workers, stated that as frontline production employees, their goal is to improve theoretical and practical skills through learning and summarizing to ensure the high-quality and efficient completion of production tasks.
The construction of the blue-collar ecological project has systematically reinforced the theoretical and practical foundation of blue-collar employees, empowering frontline workers efficiently and laying a solid foundation for the inheritance and promotion of Zhongshan Hailiang’s technology.
