In order to promote a culture of integrity and honesty in the company, and to prevent and combat dishonesty and fraud, Hailiang Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the company Department of Integrity and Honesty, held a relevant educational conference on December 18th.
At this conference, Wei Quan, the deputy captain of the Economic Investigation Brigade of Zhuji Public Security Bureau, and Lv Hongkai, the lawyer from Zhejiang Zhengrui Law Firm, were invited to give lectures. The conference was chaired by Yu Jieqing, the minister of the Integrity and Honesty Department of Hailiang Group, and attended by employees from various business departments.
As a front-line law enforcement officer, Wei Quan used real-life cases to explain common corporate crimes with clear and simple expressions, such as embezzlement, misappropriation of funds, and bribery of non-state employees. He believed that preventing crimes related to official duties requires improving and implementing institutional norms, strengthening daily supervision of key industries and personnel, and increasing the frequency of integrity and honesty education to help employees improve their moral qualities and establish correct values.
“Individuals in positions of authority must not only be responsible for themselves but also for their subordinates. They must conduct detailed research, dig deep into loopholes, and make up for shortcomings in the departments, industries and sectors under their jurisdiction. They need to encourage employees to establish the correct worldview, values and outlook on life so that they can not be greedy, dare not be greedy, do not want to be greedy. By doing so, employees will remain calm and build a solid ideological and moral bottom line for anti-corruption and clean governance.”
Lv Hongkai provided a detailed explanation on the causes of occupational crimes, response measures and relevant laws and regulations. He also clarified doubts regarding legal issues encountered by employees during business operations. He emphasized the importance of respecting, learning, abiding by and utilizing the law. Employees with more legal expertise, he argued, can improve company risk prevention and resolution capabilities.
Yu Jieqing summarized the conference, emphasizing that the law is an inviolable and high-voltage red line. He urged all employees to value themselves, their families and their work, and to fulfill their responsibilities with a sense of integrity and honesty.
Hailiang Co., Ltd. will always remember the guidance of Feng Hailiang, the founder of Hailing Group and dean of Mingde Academy, at the Integrity and Honesty Education Conference. In line with the three-word policy of control, investigation and punishment, the company will fight strictly against corruption, make good use of digitalization and AI technology, and enhance anti-corruption institutions and systems. The goal is to create a high-pressure environment with no blind spots, full coverage and zero tolerance, and to remind all staff to maintain self-awareness and avoid any wrongdoing.
